An electronic security key (or dongle) is required to operate any of the major JKSimBlast modules, JKBench or Split-Desktop. Each program requires a different dongle. The software can only be operated when the dongle is plugged in, but dongles can be moved between computers.

Two types of key are available:

		Aladdin Hardlock USB   - standard key for all computers   - small, fits on a key ring   - suitable for transfer between computers
		Aladdin Hardlock LPT   - the standard key for parallel port   - best for permanent installation on desktop computers

A network version of Hardlock USB or LPT is also available for multiple licenses.

The driver files for the Hardlock security key are compatible with Windows 98, 2000, NT4 and XP, for both LPT and USB type keys.

Split-Desktop uses an Aladdin HASP USB, key with the same appearance and function as the Hardlock USB.
